Battery-Powered Gyro Keeps 30- To 40-Foot Boats Stable

Seakeeper, the forward-thinking global leader in marine stabilization, has developed its first DC-powered gyro. Engineered for boats 30 to 40 feet in length, the state-of-the-art Seakeeper 3DC reduces resonant roll by up to 95%, in a wide range of sea conditions. It is now possible to achieve a safe, stable and comfortable platform on the water, while underway or at rest, without the need for a generator.

Based on the company's popular Seakeeper 5, the Seakeeper 3DC shares the same small footprint of 30 inches long by 30 inches wide by 25 inches high with a weight of 790 pounds. The unit has a modest electrical draw of between 500 to 1,000 watts, depending on sea state. The new model retails for $29,900.

Like all of the company's gyros, the Seakeeper 3DC requires no speed-robbing external appendages and is virtually silent. It can be installed off centerline if needed, offering great flexibility for both new builds and refits.

"At Seakeeper, we pride ourselves in listening to the demands of the market," said Andrew Semprevivo, Seakeeper VP of sales and marketing. "We're excited to launch the first DC-powered stabilization system for boats in this size class."

More than 2,400 Seakeeper gyros have been installed worldwide. The completely scalable technology stabilizes vessels from 30 to 220 feet.

You Can Relax With These Drink Holders Aboard

A relaxing day on the water involves warm sunshine, calm seas and a spot to rest a cold beverage. Accon Marine's drink holders provide a safe space for cups, helping to prevent spills and relieving boaters of glass duty.

Constructed from marine-grade 316 stainless steel or aluminum, they are offered in single and double models. Measuring 3-1/2 inches in diameter, these drink holders fit standard cup sizes. An optional wine glass holder insert is also available.

Fitting into Accon's stainless steel bases, the drink holders can be easily removed when not needed. They're a breeze to simply snap back into place when owners are ready to use again.

These drink holders are surface mounted, so no cut-outs are required. Each model fastens with two No. 10 screws.

Accon Marine's Single Drink Holder with Base has a starting price of $62.36, while the double starts at $76.12. The optional Wine Glass Holder accessory is $37.47.

Fish Seeker Can Be Set At Precise Trolling Depth

Trolling does not have to be a drag. Ideal for salt and freshwater fishing with a 6-25 pound test line, Davis Instruments' Fish Seeker enables users to choose their trolling depth from 5 feet to 80 feet when at a speed of 2 mph.

Using the supplied chart, owners simply attach their rod line snap swivel to a lettered hole and their leader snap swivel to a numbered hole. Then, they release the amount of line specified and Fish Seeker dives to the desired depth.

It's a good replacement for outriggers and heavy lead ball sinkers, but not for use with deep diving lures. Fish Seeker flips over with each strike so users fight only the fish, not the gear.

This handy tool is great for salmon, trout, steelhead, walleye, crappie and striper and is offered in chartreuse, hot pink or clear colors.

Davis Instruments' Fish Seekers cost $7.99 and are featured in the marine section of 27 Bass Pro Shops nationwide.
