Expansion At West Coast Canvas
Curt Page of West Coast Canvas has been a main stay in the boating community now for the past 40 years. With the countless list of satisfied customers during this time, you might think that Curt would be content to sit back and enjoy the fruits of his labor in what has already become a highly successful and thriving business model. Quite the contrary, as has recently been proven in the recent expansion of West Coast Canvas.
They are located at 1242 W. Freemont St. in Stockton. Right in the middle of the ever-growing Marine Yacht Center world, the shop already provided 6,500 square feet of indoor workspace. In addition, the location features a large and secure trailer boat work area outside plus 40-foot to 70-foot covered slips for larger vessels in the shadow of the I-5 bridge. This additional space of 3,500 square feet brings the total inside work area of West Coast Canvas to an incredible 10,000 square feet to successfully complete any workload demand placed upon them. There were few shops in Northern California that could match the sheer size of Curt’s shop prior, while this expansion surely places the shop as one of the largest in California as a whole.

Bay & Delta Yachtsman Welcomes New Bay Area Coverage
As most double-edged swords act, this one is of no difference in the fact that this announcement brings sadness and joy at equal levels. You may have already read that this is the last issue for the regular column “Front Rudder” by Mark Reid. For the past nine years, Mark has not only been a friend, but provided an entreating, enlightening and informative written word to our readership in the column properly named regarding his love of sailing and the America’s Cup races. Reid will be greatly missed, but we wish him the very best in this next thrilling and travel filled chapter of his life. True passion of one’s desire to pass along what is felt in the heart will be matched by few. Good Luck Mark, we look forward to hearing from you in the future.

Jillian Humphreys was born into the boating community as her folks were active members of the Stockton Sailing Club. Her first sail was when she was only 2 weeks old on her family’s boat in the Delta. She grew up going to local schools and participated in Lincoln High School’s Sailing Team until she graduated. While growing up at the Stockton Sailing Club, she volunteered to teach sailing to other kids in the community through the club’s Learn to Sail Program starting at age 10 until 15, a program that she herself went through and continued to teach until she left for college.
Jillian’s parents often took her on trips to the San Francisco Bay by boat, stopping at marinas along the way creating lifelong memories. When she was 16, Jillian was awarded the Yachtswoman of the Year at the SSC, and followed that up with Crewman of the Year in 2015. She is often found boating whether it be in the Delta or San Francisco Bay, but when she isn’t she is working in the marine industry assisting customers around the world.
