California Yacht Brokers Association Announces New Executive Director
We are pleased to announce that one of our very own has officially become the new Executive Director to the CYBA with the start of the new year. We want to be among the first to welcome Ty Mellott to this important position. Having been closely tied to the marine industry for the past 26 years and nearly 15 of those years as your Co-Publisher, Ty is looking forward to taking on this position and all the demands placed upon him. Having been in the peripheral of the CYBA for many years, he comes to the position with knowledge of the association but will continue to gain more as times passes.
California was the first state to require brokers and sales personnel to be licensed and bonded. Since its inception in 1975, the efforts of the CYBA goes beyond that which is required by law and offers further protection and services to the consumer. Ty looks forward to continuing to meet the high standards of which are expected of the CYBA from assistance in the CYBA daily operations to meeting with legislative groups to ensure the health and continued growth of the recreational boating industry. Having served the Northern California Marine Association as a director and past president, along with continuing to serve the California Delta Chambers board as a director and past president, Ty is eager to use his experience and looks forward to serving the board of directors and CYBA members with excitement.
He states, “Recreation Publications and Bay & Delta Yachtsman will always be my home and I plan on giving each my attention, but this position with the CYBA offers the opportunity to work within our industry. That was not within my reach prior.”
