Delta Marine Sales Increases The Size Of Their Sales Team
With the record year all the dealers and brokers have experienced in 2021, it is of no shock that nearly all Nor-Cal boat related businesses are looking for qualified salespeople. It is with great pleasure that we help introduce the newest member of Delta Yacht Sales, Catherine Baganz. Cat is well qualified when it comes to boats, and with her outgoing personality it is very apparent that she will do well in her new career path. Having been around boating since a young age, she owns and uses the wide variety of boats presently owned. You may even actually know the story of her restoring (on her own mind you) the 1942 Higgins Landing Craft that she owns.
Aside from her welcoming smile, knowledge of the boating world and seamanship, she also brings to the team her mechanical know how and an IT consulting background. Although she went to work for Tony Faso and Delta Marine Sales, basically as an apprentice and salesperson in training, Catherine has already passed the state mandated salesperson test with flying colors in early July, thus making her title of Boat & Yacht Salesperson official.
Catherine for the most part can be found at the Delta Yacht Sales location at Village West Marina. You can stop by and introduce yourself, where you will be greeted with a smile for sure. While there you can see the new yacht sales office which may very well be completed by the time you read this, but in either case we hope you get the chance to meet Cat in person soon.
Changes at Ladds Marina as Pacific Boat Services Takes Over Lease
Ladds Marina in Stockton has been a well-known mainstay in the boating and marine community for years. We would like to announce that as of July, the marina and boatyard property lease was awarded to Ramon Mata and Pacific Boat Services.
Ramon Mata has been involved in the marine industry since 2003 where he first started out offering his services as a boat detailer. Not long after he took on partner Elias Ceja, where they quickly added graphics and teak restoration to the services offered.
In 2007 as our industry was staring down the barrel of recession and signs of a slowdown were starting to become apparent, Ramon took this opportunity to grow vs. shrink. Expanding his location at Tower Park Marina, he quickly added boat repair to the already busy detailing obligations. In order to accommodate the mechanical and boatyard demands, PBS moved its operation to the then recently vacated boatyard at Paradise Point Marina in 2011. This space seemed to fit the needs at the time, but with continued growth which now included boat sales with Ramon receiving his broker’s license, the search was on for a larger property location yet again. In 2017, Ramon began looking for property that would allow PBS to continue to sustain this growth. Ladds Marina seemed to have everything that would satisfy the lofty goals of advancement in the marine industry and became the home to PBS until December 2019 when issues resulted that prompted Ramon and his crew to move into a temporary location on Eight Mile Road. Even in this temporary location, Ramon and PBS continued to thrive under the less-than-optimal conditions.
In the first quarter of 2021, even during all the issues of a nationwide lockdown, the proposal was put into the city of Stockton regarding the leasing of the city owned property at 4911 Buckley Cove Way.
Ramon and his company, Pacific Boat Services were awarded the lease in July, and from day one have been cleaning up and remodeling the property to make it the best it can be. One of the most notable to this point is the construction done on the old service counter and chandlery. It has been converted and rebuilt into the open and welcoming office space for Ramon and his staff, along with their service writer. As improvements continue, Bill Wells will be sure to update you on the progress of them as even now, the parts room and other expansions are still under construction.
If you have not been by Pacific Boat Services lately, you may want to stop by and say hello. The future is bright for PBS and not a bad showing for a young ambitious boat washer of whom we met nearly 20 years ago. Know that Bay & Delta Yachtsman will be wishing Ramon and his PBS family great success in this next chapter being undertaken.
