Inflatable PFD Delivers All-Day Comfort And Bold Styling

Too often, people don’t wear PFDs when boating because they’re simply too bulky to have fun in. The inflatable Bombora Adventurer is different. Featuring bold styling, it’s worn around the waist and offers complete freedom of movement for all-day comfort. Plus, it’s Type III U.S. Coast Guard-approved for uncompromising safety.

With simple pull-cord activation, the Bombora Adventurer inflates into a full-size life jacket with 25 pounds of buoyancy. For use by boaters 16 years old and up, it fits chest sizes from 30- to 56-inches. This makes it ideal for owners who want their guests to be safe, but don’t want the inevitable groans that come when the old-fashioned foam PFDs are brought out.

Ultra-slim, the Bombora Adventurer has a soft and breathable neoprene-style liner. Measuring only 19-inch L x 7-inch H x 3-inch D, it won’t get in the way of even the most extreme activities.

The Bombora Adventurer is easy to don. It’s worn like a fanny pack and features a zippered pocket, front attachment loop and D-ring for securing keys and small accessories.

Using the Bombora Adventurer is simple. It’s armed with a commonly-available threaded 24-gram CO2 cylinder. Pulling on the bright yellow pull cord handle instantly inflates the PFD. The vest is then slipped over the head. A manual inflation tube with an attached signal whistle is mounted on the front. Reflective tape is on both shoulders for added safety.

The Bombora Adventurer is equally as simple to re-pack and rearm after activation. A new CO2 cylinder is installed. The vest is dried, deflated, rolled back into the belt and the cover Velcro reattached. A video is at bit.ly/Bombo raAdventurer.

The Bombora Adventurer is available in two color combinations, blue and grey Quicksilver or teal and white Tidal. It costs $149.

Multi-Purpose Lifting Cleats Eliminate Deck Clutter

From fishing boats to luxury yacht tenders, today’s designs place a premium on clean lines and obstruction-free deck spaces. Accon Marine 209 Series Lifting Cleats eliminate hardware clutter. They retract when not in use and function as either a mooring cleat or lifting eye, depending on the moment’s need.

Multipurpose 209 Series Lifting Cleats are made of marine-grade 316 stainless steel for corrosion resistance, with lifting hardware of 304 stainless steel for optimal strength and durability. They’re available in 6-inch, 8-inch and 10-inch models to suit a wide variety of vessels.

Each comes with all required parts for easy installation, including the cleat, rod, sling, cross bar and bow eye, plus a backing plate that doubles as a cut-out template. The standard rod length of 12-inch suits most boats; longer versions are available.

To fully complement contemporary yacht designs, 10-inch cleats are offered in a choice of through-bolted and stud mount models. Suggested retail prices for Accon Marine 209 Series Lifting Cleats start at $217.56.

For boaters who don’t need lifting eye capability, the 209 Series also has retractable standard Mooring Cleats in sizes from 4.5-to 10-inches. Their MSRP begins at $79.32.

Hubbell Overcomes Onboard USB Charging Issues

Small electronics with lithium-ion batteries need to be recharged, but using power adapters of questionable quality can be a fire hazard. A serious issue, the US Coast Guard recently directed its inspectors to look closer at how this is being done onboard commercial vessels. A smart approach for any boat owner is to replace electrical outlets with Hubbell Marine USB Charger Receptacles. They accommodate standard two- and three-pronged plugs, plus offer the convenience of two USB inlets for fast and safe charging.

With a stylish decora design, the Hubbell Marine USB Charger Receptacle fits any standard box or bracket and uses common faceplates. An integrated LED illuminates to indicate when power is on to the USB and line voltage is available.

Hubbell offers three versions of its USB Charger Receptacle to match virtually any power need. For exposed locations, Hubbell has a weather-resistant, commercial-grade version. With all the features of the standard models, it meets Section 406.9 of the National Electrical Code when used with an outlet cover. It has one Type-A and one Type-C port. The 15A 125V model is available in ivory, light almond and white. In 20A 125V, it comes in ivory, light almond and white. Suggested retail prices for Hubbell Marine USB Charging Receptacles start at $50 for the standard versions.
