Helmut’s Marine Services, Inc. Keeping Up With The Times
It’s been said that “if you’re not moving forward, you’re moving backward.” This is certainly true for boaters facing an ebb tide. But it’s also true in the marine industry.
At Helmut’s Marine it is quite apparent that they are truly appreciative of the last 35 years of being in business, but just as easily seen, they do not rest on their laurels. They continually strive to better support their customers and increase the number of Volvo Penta products being offered. Doing so certainly requires keeping up with the times, whether in relation to the latest in marine engine technology or the updating of a company logo.
Since its founding, Helmut’s has been building a Volvo Penta parts inventory that few dealers in the nation can match. To keep up with the ever-increasing inventory that is used to supply the western states and Hawaii, the addition of a third building was recently christened which doubled the usable area for inventory and workspace. The ability to now carry more inventory than ever before allows Helmut’s to serve more avid boaters. The goal to add more inventory is always at the forefront. Vice President of Operations, Nadine Urciuoli states, “If you don’t have it, you can’t sell it!” Along with the expanded inventory and the space provided, Nadine also informs us that the recent dredging project has been completed, adding more convenience to those who bring their vessels to the service docks.
The staff has been growing also. Helmut’s increased the size of the service department team to meet growing customer needs. To further assist in parts demand, not only was a dedicated Outside Parts sales team added but also an extra person at the parts counter who assists with phone calls, emails and walk-in customers. New service writers and factory-trained technicians allow us to better serve our customers, including yachters, sail boaters, families, hobbyists and commercial fisherman. All staff (whether new or senior) receive and continue to earn up-to-date training and education. This goes for all team members. Those in parts, to office personnel, to service – receive regular Volvo factory training to stay current on modern technology, design changes and recalls in a continued effort to meet customer satisfaction in all areas. Service technicians are always welcome to apply if interested.
Walking into Helmut’s seeking Volvo Penta purchase, service or parts is one thing, but Helmut’s Marine Services have long been part of a network of marine dealerships. They’ve also been adapting to larger industry change, as well. Volvo has given power centers more responsibilities, and because of that more dealers have come under Helmut’s Marine’s support system. To better support the local Volvo Penta dealers, Helmut’s has added an upfit center for the Volvo engine sales department, a dealer Technical Account Manager and actively pursuing the creation of a training center at their expanded facility.
With 35 years of history, all the improvements made and with more to come at Helmut’s Marine Services, some things will never change. Nadine assures us, “with all of this growth, we at Helmut’s Marine continue to have a passion for boating and we are here to help our customers. We’re devoted to offering the highest standard of service and support and will always be moving forward. We continue our one brand focus. We are here to help our customers with Volvo Penta engines, parts and service for their boats so they can get the most out of their marine experience.”
