Spectacular Waterfront Dining Destination & Water Sports Club Make A Splash In The Bay Area At Westpoint Harbor

We are delighted to share highly anticipated news with you about a new restaurant opening with an extraordinary connection to the iconic Hurrica V, a classic 60-foot, triple headed ketch sailing yacht built in 1924, which marine historians have said to be “one of the finest vessels of her type anywhere in the world.”

Dining with a marina view.

Chef Parke Ulrich and MeeSun Boice, the powerhouse team behind San Francisco’s beloved Mersea Restaurant and Bar (which has ranked as the #1 Restaurant in SF on TripAdvisor for four consecutive years), are excited to introduce their newest dining destination, Hurrica Restaurant & Bar, which opened on Friday, January 26th.

A modern American restaurant with a live-fire culinary experience, Hurrica is the newest waterfront restaurant in Redwood City on the San Francisco Peninsula, featuring spectacular views of the Westpoint Harbor. The restaurant is named in honor of the classic Hurrica V sailing yacht which is currently docked in front of the restaurant. The historic sailing yacht embodies the style and glamour of the roaring twenties, was featured in the Oscar-winning movie The Great Gatsby starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire, and whose attention to detail in her restoration stretches the imagination.

Fully built from the ground up by general contractor Ron Taylor & Terra Nova Industries, Hurrica Restaurant’s second floor is dedicated entirely as the new clubhouse for “The Club at Westpoint,” a water sports club which offers sailing, kayaking, SUP and other water-based events, helmed by a team of seasoned managers from some of the bay area’s most recognizable private clubs.

Hurrica Restaurant aims to be the destination for not only the public, but especially so for the yachting/boating community. It conveniently offers boaters up to 1,000 ft. of Guest Dock space. 500ft for the restaurant and 500ft for The Club at Westpoint.

The visionary Hurrica team, comprised of famed Chef Parke Ulrich (Co-Founding Partner of Hurrica, in addition to being the Executive Chef/Partner of SF’s celebratedWaterbar & EPIC Steak restaurants), MeeSun Boice (Co-Founding Partner), Chef Justin Baade (Executive Chef/Partner), Erick Cadena (General Manager/Partner) and Julie Kurz (Events Director/Partner), set out to strip away the formalities of stuffy fine dining and instead focuses on the highest caliber of food & wine, while creating an atmosphere of comfortable elegance and belonging.

MeeSun and Parke were honored to be invited by Mark and Maureen Sanders, the owners of both the Westpoint Harbor & Hurrica V yacht, to create a world-class restaurant at this certified Clean Marina.

Comfortable amenities await The Club at Westpoint members.

With a glass kitchen in the heart of the nearly 8,000 square foot restaurant, guests can see Chef Justin’s visually-stunning, live-fire cooking taking place, with dishes prepared “From the Hearth” – above open flames, on the grill or in the embers. The menu includes signature dishes such as Kombu Wrapped 1.5 lb Lobster, entrees including Pan Roasted Black Cod; bites and small plates such as Warm Milk Bread, Mendocino Uni; Shellfish Chowder, Lobster Ravioli, and Oysters, and delicious sides like Ember Roasted Potatoes and Roasted Cauliflower. Highlights of the delicious dessert menu include Chocolate Peanut Butter Entremet and Apple Caramel Mousse Verrine.

A statement-making wraparound calacatta viola marble bar prominently anchors one of the main dining spaces, overlooking Hurrica’s expansive, custom-built, floor-to-ceiling, jellyfish aquarium, constructed by the expert team at Tenji Aquarium Design + Build.

Furthering its allure, the restaurant offers the rare opportunity to arrive by land or sea.

Not just another restaurant, Hurrica’s founders aim to create an extraordinary, unforgettable destination dining experience that leaves an enduring impression on every guest.

One block from the State Capitol! California’s marine and boating industries are set to meet in Sacramento on March 12-13, 2024 to impact state legislators and regulators on issues facing marinas, boating, waterways, and recreation.

The 8th annual event brings together industry groups to hear from statewide leaders, policymakers, legislators, and more to gain a keen understanding on legislation and regulatory issues facing California’s growing marine, boating, and water recreation industries.

“The California Boating Congress is the must attend event to meet government officials who impact our industry every day,” said Kate Pearson, chair of the annual event and immediate past president of the Marine Recreation Association. “Telling our story to policy makers in Sacramento is crucial to protecting our marinas and waterways.”

The California Yacht Brokers Association (CYBA) is excited to announce the return of the Pacific Sail & Power Boat Show (PS&PBS) May 16-19, 2024.

Now in their second year as owners and producers of the show, the CYBA returns the show to the widely acclaimed venue at Westpoint Harbor in Redwood City, California. Westpoint Harbor is the newest full-service yacht harbor in Northern California, located in the southern area of the San Francisco Bay in the heart of Silicon Valley. The venue this year will expand to include more docking opportunities as well as additional on-land booth and display areas overlooking the marina. “We are very excited to expand and enhance the Pacific Sail & Powerboat Show for our second year at the beautiful WestPoint Harbor Marina! More boats, more booths, more food, more FUN!” says Jim Behun, CYBA Show Manager.

In addition to expanded entertainment, educational, boating lifestyle, and dining offerings at the show, those attending will also be able to experience the views, atmosphere and cuisine of the newly opened Hurrica Restaurant and Bar on site. This beautiful eatery is the newest waterside restaurant to be built in Northern California and is sure to gain great reviews from those wanting to drink or dine within the confines of the award-winning marina complex. The restaurant is in the lower level of the newly completed two story marina facility, with the upper level serving as the clubhouse for The Club at Westpoint.

Addressing this year’s attendees, CYBA President Mark P. White adds, “We are very excited to have our second annual PS&PBS returning to Westpoint Harbor. With the expansion of the in-water display, more booths, and more seminars there is even more opportunity for both our vendors and our show-goers to meet their needs and expectations. With ample free parking and an amazing service staff, we fully intend for your visit to set the standard for what a modern boat show can provide in fun, entertainment, gathering of knowledge, and of course fulfilling the dream of purchasing a new or used vessel, equipment, and accessories.”

The 2024 show is the second edition of the partnership announced in 2021 between Sail America and the California Yacht Brokers Association, who entered into a licensing agreement for the Pacific Sail and Power Boat show wherein the CYBA, as show managers, will eventually acquire full ownership. Both CYBA and Sail America members will receive courtesy exhibitor discounts when participating in the show.
