Fiberglass Reborn With Iosso

Fiberglass on boats and RVs is under constant attack from UV rays, windborne dirt, and calcium and salt deposits. Over time, their gelcoat surfaces fade and appear dull and chalky. But with Fiberglass Reconditioner from Iosso Products, it’s simple to restore the surface’s original deep, lustrous color while adding a protective coating – all in one easy step.

Removes oxidation, chalking, waterline and exhaust stains, rust spots, oil and road tar from gelcoat. The formula doesn’t contain silicone, so it won’t cause problems if refinishing is planned. It’s equally effective on stainless steel, aluminum and chrome.

Applied with a brush or sponge in a manageable section, it’s buffed by hand or machine in an overlapping pattern. Then, it’s wiped with a soft cloth. The result is a high-gloss shine that doesn’t require waxing. A concentrated formula, one pound will restore a 30-foot boat from the waterline up or similarly sized travel trailer. A one-pound jar of Iosso Products Fiberglass Reconditioner costs $23. Ideal for OEMs, boatyards and marine detailers, 5 lb. and 5 gal. pails have list prices of $85.45 and $730, respectively. Commercial discounts are available.

Water Heater Offers Dynamic Heat Source Choices

After a long day on the water, having ample supplies of hot water for multiple showers and meal preparation is a welcome luxury. The 1700 Series Marine Water Heater from Raritan Engineering was created specifically for marine use. With a proven long-life design, it’s available with a 115V AC or 240V AC heating element, and the option to include an innovative heat exchanger that uses the vessel’s hot engine coolant.

The Raritan 1700 Series is available in convenient 6-, 12- and 20-gallon sizes and designed to operate downstream of an onboard water system pump. Like a residential water heater, each is glass lined for durability and corrosion-free, clean-tasting water. High-density, eco-friendly CFM-free foam insulation with a high R-value is used for maximum heat retention. The tanks have an attractive easy-to-clean polymer jacket.

Highly efficient, the 1700 Series Marine Water Heater has a dockside recovery rate of 13 gph on 115V and 18 gph when running on 240V. The integrated adjustable thermostat with ignition protection can be set as high as 160° F to extend the tank’s capacity when mixing with cold water. A check valve is required to prevent hot water migrating back to the pump. The replaceable anode protects the unit and neutralizes acids in the water. The available heat exchanger is a 7-foot coil of hose that runs inside the tank and is connected to the engine cooling system.

Simple to install, all plumbing connections are on one side of the 1700 Series Marine Water Heater. Fittings for hot and cold potable water are all .75-inch male NPT; the heat exchanger’s are .75-inch” female NPT.

Raritan 1700 Series Marine Water Heaters are exceptionally compact. The 6-gallon model is 14.5-inch dia. x 16.25-inches H and weighs 36 lbs.; the 12 gal., 18.75-inch dia. x 16.25-inches H at 62 lbs.; and the 20 gal., 18.75-inch dia. x 24.25-inches H at 81 lbs. Each is assembled by hand, individually tested and backed by Raritan’s two-year limited warranty and legendary technical support team. Prices range from $1,410 to $1,975.

Cooler Keeps Adventures Fresh

Built in Alaska, this 88 qt. cooler is unlike any other on the market. Every design aspect provides optimum functionality, including simultaneously keeping contents both hot and/or cold, an integrated cutting board, a removable table and the ability to withstand 24 hours with a 1,250-pound Alaskan Kodiak Brown Bear.

The thick insulated walls of the three individual internal compartments of the rotomolded PacBak P88-MK Cooler reliably separate hot from cold and wet from dry. The lid of the smallest 8 qt. space on top removes to become a cutting board. Underneath is a 22 qt. section that’s 18.875-inches L x 9-inches W x 8-inches D. The main 58 qt. compartment to the right measures 18.75-inches L x 14.5-inches W x 13.25-inches D. Both bottom sections drain without tilting.

Externally, the removable top becomes a table that quickly attaches to either side of the cooler. Integrated legs fold down to create a massive 10.2 sq. ft. work surface. All hardware is stainless steel for outdoor durability, even the bottle openers on both front corners. Rugged strap handles make toting the 65 lb. cooler easier. Measuring just 32.5-inches L x 22.75-inches W x 18.75-inches H overall, it’s ideal for off-grid living for days on end.

The PacBak P88-MK Cooler is so innovative, it won the coveted ICAST Best of Show award in 2022. With special holiday pricing, the PacBak P88-MK Cooler is $549.
