Raised in Oxford, UK, Rob Newman’s earliest memories involve navigating the River Thames aboard his family’s cabin cruiser. Transitioning from a career as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, he ventured into founding and managing a reputable special purpose machine design and manufacturing enterprise. Ten years later, he seized the opportunity to pursue his lifelong passion for powerboats and motor yacht sales, commencing with the distribution of Crownline boats and yachts in Weymouth, UK before relocating to the USA.
Upon settling in the Midwest and enjoying a lakeside boating lifestyle, Rob eventually made his way to the Bay Area over a decade ago. There, he applied his expertise in various roles within a leading new boat dealership, encompassing sales consultancy, management and operations development. Throughout his tenure, either directly or in a leadership capacity, Rob facilitated the sale, commissioning and delivery of numerous new luxury yachts to clients across the Bay Area and West Coast. His extensive experience navigating the waters of the West Coast and beyond underscores his proficiency as a boat handler and operator.
A resident of Tiburon, CA since his arrival in San Francisco, Rob takes pride in his membership with the CYBA and the San Francisco Yacht Club, reflecting his deep-rooted connection to the maritime community.
This leads to the next chapter where Rob founded MRN Yacht Sales in the fall of 2023 which has emerged with a clear vision and mission: to redefine the norms of the marine industry by consistently raising the bar in practices, approaches and standards, all aimed at providing customers with the ultimate experience possible.

Willow Berm Berthers Getting Another Benefit
Coming soon to Willow Berm Marina on the Delta Loop will be the brand new, “Weekend at Terrys.” The now under construction Grill will be a place to grab a bite to eat with your friends and fellow berthers. BYOB, your boat neighbors and friends to enjoy a slice of paradise as well as a slice of pizza. The menu features all the munchies to be enjoyed on the patio which will include comfortable chairs, tables, shade and two large screen tv’s. Enjoy your favorite team on the big screen or just relax while grabbing a bite to eat.
The grill is not open to the public and will be exclusive to the Willow Berm Marina members and those who use their extensive guest dock services. Just another reason to include the marina in your yacht club cruise-out schedule.
Presently, the plan for the grand opening is May 1. Stay tuned to Bill’s column, Delta Rat Scrapbook for the full review as he is sure to be invited to come out and sample the menu and give his report. Rumor has it that Harbor Master, Terry Roberts may even make a surprise appearance every so often to make sure your pizza is made to order. Just a rumor mind you but, one can hope.

Tom Troglia Joins SeaNet Yachts
Long known to the Northern California marine business, Tom was born and raised in a maritime environment where he started water skiing at the age of 5. With a family deeply involved in water ski racing and hot boat racing, his family played pivotal roles in establishing a local ski club and founding the local yacht club. Tom’s early exposure has ingrained a profound connection with boating throughout his life.
Venturing into boat sales in the late 90s, he specialized in marketing reputable brands such as Formulas, Chris Crafts and Pursuits. A pivotal career shift led Tom to Marine Max, where his exceptional sales acumen resulted in the sale of 65 boats in a single year. This accomplishment led to nationwide recognition, with the company dispatching him to various locations for boat shows. Subsequently, he navigated through roles in boat brokerage before settling in Miami, where Tom excelled in selling premier brands like Riviera, Chris Craft, and Absolute Yachts.
Despite facing a health setback in 2020 and successfully overcoming cancer, Tom has resumed his career with SeaNet Yachts based in Newport Beach, California. Currently, his role spans across Mexico, Miami and California, contributing to the company’s success in the yachting industry.
