Bill,
Another great weekend on the California Delta started with attending the confirmation of Paul Faso Antonini, followed by his graduation party from 8th grade and promotion to St. Mary’s High School at the Faso-Antonini estate on the Delta! Paul is our next generation of Delta legacies. The usual Delta crowd was there to fete Paul Faso including the entire Faso clan and friends including Terry McDonald (recently returned from LaPaz), Fred & Ida Weibel and Michelle and Keith Burgad. Paul recently passed his California Boater Safety Course, and you may see him on the Delta in his Boston Whaler. Jill asks that all eyes remain vigilant on Paul, as it will take a village to raise him these next four years!
Next up was Music in the Park, hosted by RiverPoint Landing Marina at their beautiful park along the San Joaquin River. The berthers and those in their campsites were treated to the music of the Jam Addicts Band! Contact the marina for future events.
Sunday was Delta Sport Boats Yacht Club’s monthly brunch run.
This month was to the historic Grand Island Mansion in Walnut Grove! Always the best food, and if someone goes away hungry that is their own fault! Jim Nevis receives the award for coming the farthest by boat, having cruised up in Final Final from Pittsburg!
Others arrived via the asphalt sloughs to enjoy the fabulous brunch at the historic landmark. The 58-room mansion construction started in 1917 and was completed in 1920. Sadly, the owner Lewis Meyers only enjoyed the estate for two years before his untimely death at the age of 51. The estate has entertained many celebrities and luminaries over the years such as President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Greta Garbo and the famed mystery writer Erle Stanley Gardner.
After brunch, members continued to enjoy the perfect day on the Delta at Al the Wops, Wimpy’s and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Restaurant (Oakley). This group does its best to support our fine local establishments!
Until next time – see you on the California Delta!

Blair,
Thanks for the great report. You are certainly not letting the grass grow under your feet. This is shaping up to be an epic summer in the region. Great picture of Paul and his mom. It looks like he is taller than her now, a good-looking young lad. Yes, we need folks like him to take over as we age out.
It looks like the party at RiverPoint was a good one. That is a perfect place for a party, and the passing boats can enjoy the music too.
The Grand Island Mansion is one of my favorite spots too. As you say, it is your own fault if you go away hungry. Al’s, Wimpy’s and WTF are classic spots, you did a great tour in one day. Well, Independence Day is right around the corner. Keep me in the loop with what is going on and I look forward to seeing some of your epic fireworks photos.
Bill
