Torcello Elite Steering Wheel Wins Award

Chosen from among a landslide of nominations, Schmitt & Ongaro Marine’s Torcello Elite steering wheel has been named a 2022 Boating Industry Top Product of the Year. It was selected by the publication’s editors for its innovation, impact on the industry and how it advanced its category.

Few things on a boat have the power to convey a sense of luxury as much as the steering wheel. The Torcello Elite does just that. Wrapped in hand-stitched marine-grade synthetic leather, it delivers a hand feel that matches that of a premium automobile. Designed to be customized in quantity to match virtually any boat interior, the 14-inch polyurethane wheel can be manufactured in an endless array of leather and stitching color combinations. The three thick stainless steel spokes are available in polished or black anodized finishes to enhance the décor. A choice of attractive center caps are offered, including OEM-branded. NMMA certified and CE marked, it’s available with a .75-inch tapered or optional splined hub.

“We’re pleased to receive this recognition from the editors of Boating Industry,” said Watson “Roby” Holland, VP of sales and marketing. “As we were developing the Torcello Elite, we knew it would be unique within the industry, but to be acknowledged with a Top Product award is a huge honor.”

Flush-Mount Compass Built For Small Boats

Many power and sailboats have limited dash or deck space for a compass. The Explorer Flush-Mount F-50 is the ideal solution. Requiring only a 3.75-inch round hole, it fits into the tightest spaces. And because it’s made by Ritchie Navigation, its reliability and durability are unparalleled.

Made in the USA, the Explorer Flush-Mount F-50 compass features a black or white 2.75-inch dial with large heading letters, 30° incremental numbers and 5° marks. The dome has a bright yellow lubber line on the black version and red on the white.

Small boats tend to bounce when they encounter chop, but not the Explorer Flush-Mount F-50. Powerful DirectForce™ Magnets combined with a hardened steel pivot movement with a sapphire jewel bearing deliver fast and smooth heading lock-on. Because consoles and decks tend to be cluttered with metallic fittings, built-in compensators adjust for deviation.

The rugged composite body of the Ritchie Explorer F-50 is built to last, even when subjected to continual environmental extremes. When light is low, it has integrated green lighting; when it’s bright out, the movable sun shield provides optimal viewing. Model F-50-SRCWT has a 12V blue LED with a Deutsch connector.

Available in black (versions F-50 and F-50-SRCWT) or white (F-50W) the Ritchie Navigation Explorer F-50 mounts into a 3.75-inch hole and requires only 2.2-inches of depth and three screws. It’s 100% repairable, comes with a five-year warranty and costs $77.45.

Quick Release Hardware Eases Bimini Top Operation

While collapsible bimini tops offer boaters a welcome escape from direct sun, deployment and storage can sometimes prove a real chore. Accon Marine 400-Series Quick Release Bimini Top Hinges make it easy for even novice boaters to set up or take down shade structures in minutes.

Crafted from polished 316 stainless steel for exceptional durability and corrosion resistance, Accon 400-Series hinges are compact and low profile. They install with basic tools. For convenience, male fittings remain attached to the top when not in use while bases provide easy, snap-in operation. A simple sliding lock button facilitates quick bimini deployment and removal; there’s no small screws or pins that tend to get lost.

Accon Marine offers a dynamic array of Quick Release Bimini Top Hinges to fit an exceptionally wide range of boats and top styles. Its various models accommodate structures needing either pin-style or tube-style fittings. They further enable surface, stud, side or flush-mounting. Accon also has options for installing on railings and even attaching to the square tubing common to pontoon boats.

Bimini straps can also be secured, either with or without turnbuckle adjustment. The tube-style hinges likewise work great for holding flag poles or straight handrails. Matching shims and gaskets facilitate mounting on wider tubing or at deck angles of up to 20˚ for a professional, finished look.

MSRP for versatile Accon Marine 400-Series Quick Release Bimini Top Hinges start at $14.58. Shims and gaskets start at $2.96 and $1.40 respectively.
